Coming into force

The Secretary of State for Transport, in exercise of the powers conferred by section 6(1) and (3) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 19841, and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, and after consultation with the Commissioner of Police of the Metropolis pursuant to section 7(6) of that Act2, hereby makes the following Order:

This Order may be cited as the A406 Trunk Road (Hanger Lane and Ashbourne Road, Ealing) (Prohibition of Right-turn) Order 1998 and shall come into force on 6th February 1998.

In this Order:

  • “Ashbourne Road” means the road of that name in the London Borough of Ealing; and

  • “Hanger Lane” means that length of the A406 Trunk Road in the London Borough of Ealing known as Hanger Lane.

Save as provided in article 4 below, no person shall cause or permit any vehicle—

a

proceeding northwards in Hanger Lane to make a right-turn into Ashbourne Road; or

b

having entered Hanger Lane from Ashbourne Road to proceed in any direction other than southwards.

Nothing in article 3 above shall apply to—

a

any vehicle being used for Police, Fire Brigade or Ambulance purposes, if the observance of that provision would be likely to hinder the use of the vehicle for the purpose for which it is being used on that occasion; or

b

anything done at the direction of, or with the permission of, a constable in uniform or a traffic warden.
