Regulations 1(2), 13(2)(c)(iv) [F1, 13(2C)(c)(iv)] and 19(2) and (3)

SCHEDULE 3SPRISMS, TINTS, PHOTOCHROMIC LENSES, SMALL GLASSES AND SPECIAL FRAMES AND COMPLEX APPLIANCES

1.—(1) The amounts in column 3 of Schedule 1 and column 2 of Schedule 2 and in paragraph 2(a) and (b) of this Schedule shall be increased as follows:S

(a)by [F2£13.67] in respect of each single vision lens containing a necessary prism;

(b)by [F3£16.67] in respect of each other lens containing a necessary prism;

(c)by [F4£4.77] in respect of each necessary single vision tinted [F5or photochromic] lens;

(d)by [F6£5.28] in respect of each necessary other tinted [F7 or photochromic] lens;

(e)in respect of small glasses–

(i)by [F8£69.60] in the case of supply or replacement of glasses or repair of the whole frame;

(ii)by [F9£61.77] in the case of repair or replacement of the front of the frame; and

(iii)by [F10£33.35] in the case of repair or replacement of a side of a frame;

(g)where the voucher is issued or completed by [F12a Health Board] (in connection with the hospital eye service), [F13by an ophthalmic medical practitioner, or by an optician,] in respect of glasses the frame of which is certified by [F12a Health Board] [F14, the ophthalmic medical practitioner, or the optician] as being required to be specially manufactured on account of the patient’s facial characteristics, by [F15£69.60] in the case of supply or replacement of the glasses or repair of the whole frame, by [F15£61.77] in the case of repair of the front of the frame and by [F15£33.35] in the case of repair of a side of a frame.

(2) The increases provided for by sub-paragraph (1)(e)F16... and (g) of this paragraph do not apply in the case of a voucher relating to glasses if it is accepted in connection with the supply or replacement of contact lenses.

(3) In sub-paragraph (1) of this paragraph “necessary” in relation to a prisms or a tinted or photochromic lens means that the prism, tint or photochromic quality has been prescribed on the basis of clinical need.

(4) Where the face value of a voucher is increased in accordance with sub-paragraph (1)(g) of this paragraph, it may not be further increased in accordance with sub-paragraph (1)(e) of this paragraph.

2.  The minimum complex appliance payment is–S

(a)for a complex appliance with single vision lenses only, [F17£15.81];

(b)for any other complex appliance, [F18£40.57],

plus, in each case, the amount of any increase provided for by paragraph 1 of this Schedule.
