Explanatory Note

(This note is not part of the Regulations)

These Regulations, which come into force on 20th April 1998, amend the Video Recordings (Labelling) Regulations 1985 in two respects. First, new symbols are introduced for double-sided discs, which contain information on both faces. The new symbols, which dispense with the requirement for coloured shaped backgrounds, are to be shown on one face of every double-sided disc. Second, the Regulations remove the requirement for symbols on single-sided discs to be set on coloured backgrounds and permit all such symbols to be black.
