Citation, commencement and interpretation

1.—(1) This Order may be cited as the Registration of Births, Deaths and Marriages (Fees) (Amendment) Order 1999 and shall come into force on 1st June 1999.

(2) In this Order–

(a)the “1998 Order” means the Registration of Births, Deaths and Marriages (Fees) Order 1998(3); and

(b)a reference to a numbered column is to the column in the Schedule to the 1998 Order bearing that number.

Amendment of the 1998 Order

2.  In the Schedule to the 1998 Order in the entry made in respect of the Social Security Administration Act 1992, section 124(3)–

(a)in column 3 at the end there is inserted “(iii) any other custodian of the register”; and

(b)in relation to that case in column (4) there is inserted the sum of “£6.50”.

Explanatory Note

(This note is not part of the Order)

This Order amends the Registration of Births, Deaths and Marriages (Fees) Order 1998 by inserting an additional fee which is to be payable where a certificate of birth, death or marriage is issued by a custodian of the register other than a registrar or superintendent registrar under the Social Security Administration Act 1992 from 1st June 1999.

1968 c. 14; paragraph 1 of Schedule 3 was amended by section 116(1) of, and paragraph 21 of Schedule 9 to, the Friendly Societies Act 1974 (c. 46), and by section 4 of, and paragraph 5 of Schedule 2 to, the Social Security (Consequential Provisions) Act 1992 (c. 6). By virtue of section 2(2) of the Marriage Act 1983 (c. 32) the reference to the Marriage Act 1949 (c. 76) in the said Schedule 3 includes a reference to that Act as amended by the 1983 Act.

References to “the Chancellor of the Exchequer” were substituted in the second column of paragraphs 1 and 2 of Schedule 3 to the 1968 Act by article 5(1) of, and paragraph 16 of Schedule 2 to, the Transfer of Functions (Registration and Statistics) Order 1996 (S.I. 1996/273).
