Transitional provisions
3.—(1) The transitional provisions in Schedule 2 shall have effect.
(2) Until section 78 of the 1999 Act(1) comes into force, a reference in these Regulations to a District Judge (Magistrates' Courts) shall be read as a reference to a stipendiary magistrate.

Section 78 of the Access to Justice Act 1999 substitutes sections 10A to 10E of the Justices of the Peace Act 1997 for sections 11 to 20 of that Act. Section 78 is to come into force on such day as the Lord Chancellor may by order appoint.
