capable of transmitting a distress alert either through the Cospas-Sarsat satellite service operating in the 406 MHz band or, alternatively, in sea areas A1, A2 and A3 only, through the INMARSAT geostationary satellite service operating in the 1.6 GHz band;

installed in an easily accessible position;

ready to be manually released and capable of being carried by one person into a survival craft;

capable of floating free if the fishing vessel sinks;

capable of being activated manually; and

automatically activated when afloat.
