This Order brings the following provisions of the Access to Justice Act 1999 into force:
(a)on 1st January 2000, section 35 (replacement of the Lord Chancellor’s Advisory Committee on Legal Education and Conduct (“ACLEC”) by the Legal Services Consultative Panel), Schedule 5 and section 41 (authorised bodies: designation and regulations and rules), section 71 (adjournment of inquest in event of judicial inquiry) and section 85 (power to direct implementation of recommendations of inspectors of magistrates' courts service); and
(b)on 1st March 2000, part of section 83(1) (Greater London Magistrates' Courts Authority).
Certain other minor and consequential provisions are also brought into force, and the Order makes transitional arrangements relating to the replacement of ACLEC by the Legal Services Consultative Panel.
