The Road Transport (Passenger Vehicles Cabotage) Regulations 1999

Commencement, citation and interpretation E+W+S

1.—(1) These Regulations may be cited as the Road Transport (Passenger Vehicles Cabotage) Regulations 1999 and shall come into force on 28th January 2000.

(2) In these Regulations—

• “the Council Regulation" means Council Regulation (EC) No. 12/98 of 11 December 1997 laying down the conditions under which non-resident carriers may operate national road passenger transport services within a member State M1 ;

• “the 1981 Act" means the Public Passenger Vehicles Act 1981 M2 ;

• “Community carrier" means a road passenger transport carrier established in a member state of the European Community other than the United Kingdom;

• “road" has the meaning given in section 192(1) of the Road Traffic Act 1988 M3 ;

• “traffic commissioner" has the meaning given in section 4 of the 1981 Act;

• “UK cabotage operations" means cabotage transport operations in Great Britain or between Great Britain and Northern Ireland.
