This Order amends the Income-related Benefits (Subsidy to Authorities) Order 1998 (No. 562) in respect of the year commencing on 1st April 1998.
Article 2 provides that the additional subsidy payable to Scottish Homes is not to exceed £1,177,000.
Article 3 reduces the amount of additional subsidy payable to authorities in respect of fraudulent overpayments from 95 per cent to 80 per cent of the overpayment.
Article 4 and Schedule 1 specify new amounts in respect of the sums payable to authorities by way of administration subsidy, the thresholds and caps which apply to rent rebates for temporary accommodation for the homeless, the additional sums payable to authorities in respect of rent allowance cases and the weekly benefit thresholds.
Article 5 provides that, in calculating deductions to be made from subsidy payments in respect of period overruns, the expression “benefit week” means a period of at least 60 weeks.
Article 6 and Schedule 2 limits the subsidy payable on deregulated rents in rent registration areas.
This Order does not impose a charge on businesses.
