This Order gives effect to a Scheme of the Charity Commissioners for the charity known as the Seamen’s Hospital Society which is regulated by the Seaman’s Hospital Society Act 1833.
The Scheme removes those provisions of the Act which had become impractical or anachronistic and makes up-to-date provisions for the administration of the charity. It also makes minor amendments to the description of the area of benefit of the charity and extends its benefits to seawomen as well as seamen.
