In regulation 66 at the end of subparagraph (c) there shall be inserted:

in the case of ships constructed on or after 1st July 1998 permanent openings for ventilation in the side plating, the ends or deckhead of cargo spaces shall be so situated that a fire in the cargo space is not likely to endanger stowage areas or embarkation stations for survival craft, or accommodation spaces, service spaces or control stations in superstructures and deckhouses above the cargo spaces.
