This Order brings into force section 82(3) of the Greater London Authority Act 1999 so that the Receiver for the Metropolitan Police District (“the Receiver”) ceases to be a major precepting authority, subject to the saving that this shall not affect the Receiver’s status and functions as a major precepting authority for the 2000/2001 and earlier financial years.
This Order also brings into force the repeal of the reference to the Receiver from section 65(3) of the Local Government Finance Act 1992, which requires all major precepting authorities other than the Receiver to consult representatives of non-domestic ratepayers in their area about the authority’s expenditure proposals for a financial year.
