The Data Protection (Designated Codes of Practice) Order 2000

Whereas a draft of this Order has been laid before and approved by a resolution of each House of Parliament:
Now, therefore, the Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred upon him by section 32(3) of the Data Protection Act 19981, and after consultation with the Data Protection Commissioner in accordance with section 67(3) of that Act, hereby makes the following Order:

This Order may be cited as the Data Protection (Designated Codes of Practice) Order 2000 and shall come into force on 1st March 2000.

The codes of practice listed in the Schedule to this Order shall be designated for the purposes of section 32(3) of the Data Protection Act 1998.
SCHEDULEDESIGNATED CODES OF PRACTICE

The Code on Fairness and Privacy issued by the Broadcasting Standards Commission in June 1998 pursuant to sections 107 and 108 of the Broadcasting Act 19962.

The ITC Programme Code issued by the Independent Television Commission in Autumn 1998 pursuant to section 7 of the Broadcasting Act 19903.

The Code of Practice published by the Press Complaints Commission in December 1997.

The Producers' Guidelines issued by the British Broadcasting Corporation in November 1996.

The Programme Code issued by the Radio Authority in March 1998 pursuant to section 91 of the Broadcasting Act 1990.
