The Special Health Authorities (Duty of Quality) Regulations 2000

Coming into force

The Secretary of State for Health, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 126(4) of the National Health Service Act 19771 and section 18(3) of the Health Act 19992, hereby makes the following Regulations:

Citation, commencement and extent1

These Regulations may be cited as the Special Health Authorities (Duty of Quality) Regulations 2000 and shall come into force on 1st April 2000.

These Regulations extend to England only.

Extension of the duty of quality2

The duty in section 18 of the Health Act 1999 (duty of quality) shall extend to the following Special Health Authorities–

a

the National Blood Authority3;

b

the Ashworth Hospital Authority4;

c

the Broadmoor Hospital Authority5;

d

the Rampton Hospital Authority6.

These Regulations extend the duty in section 18 of the Health Act 1999, to put and keep in place arrangements for the purpose of monitoring and improving the quality of health care which an NHS body provides to individuals, to the National Blood Authority and to the Ashworth, Broadmoor and Rampton Hospital Authorities. The Regulations extend only to England.
