SCHEDULEENABLING POWERS

Preamble

These Regulations are made under the following powers:

a

sections 534, 201(1) and (3)5 of, and paragraph 10B(1)(a)6 of Schedule 2 to the Representation of the People Act 1983 (“the 1983 Act”);

b

having regard to the definition of “prescribed” in section 202(1) of the 1983 Act and paragraph 1(2) of Schedule 4 to the Representation of the People Act 2000, paragraph 3(2)(c) of that Schedule.

(This note is not part of the Regulations)

These Regulations amend the Representation of the People (Scotland) Regulations 2001. They ensure that the provisions empowering the supply of copies of the register under regulation 47 extend to providing copies of any revised versions of the register and of notices published by registration officers in between the annual revision of the register. This is consequential on the introduction of the rolling register.

The instrument also contains other minor corrections to the Regulations.
