Explanatory Note

(This note is not part of the Order)

Section 9(3) of the Employment Tribunals Act 1996 gives the Secretary of State power by order to substitute for the sum specified in section 9(2)(a) of that Act such other sum as is specified in the order. The sum is the maximum amount which an employment tribunal may be authorised to require a party to proceedings to pay by way of deposit, if that party wishes to continue to participate in those proceedings following a pre-hearing review.

This Order increases the sum in section 9(2)(a) of the Employment Tribunals Act 1996 from £150 to £500.
