RATING AND VALUATION, ENGLAND

The Rating (Former Agricultural Premises and Rural Shops) Act 2001 (Commencement No. 1) Order 2001

The Secretary of State for Transport, Local Government and the Regions, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 6(2) of the Rating (Former Agricultural Premises and Rural Shops) Act 2001(1) hereby makes the following Order:—

Citation and extent

1.  This Order, which extends to England only, may be cited as the Rating (Former Agricultural Premises and Rural Shops) Act 2001 (Commencement No. 1) Order 2001.

Commencement

2.—(1) Section 1(3) of the Rating (Former Agricultural Premises and Rural Shops) Act 2001, in so far as it confers power on the Secretary of State to make an order under section 43(6F) of the Local Government Finance Act 1988(2), shall come into force on 17th July 2001.

(2) Section 1 of the Act of 2001, except in so far as it is brought into force by paragraph 1(1), and sections 2 to 5 of that Act, shall come into force on 15th August 2001.

Explanatory Note

(This note is not part of the Order)

This Order, which extends to England only, brings into force sections 1 to 5 of the Rating (Former Agricultural Premises and Rural Shops) Act 2001. (The remaining section, section 6, came into force on Royal Assent.)

Section 1, to the extent it confers on the Secretary of State the power to make an order under section 43(6F) of the Local Government Finance Act 1988, is brought into force on 17th July 2001. Section 1 to the extent it is not already in force and sections 2 to 5 are brought into force on 15th August 2001.

2001 c. 14. In relation to Wales, the power to make a commencement order is vested in the National Assembly for Wales: see section 6(2).
