The Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, being designatedM1 for the purposes of section 2(2) of the European Communities Act 1972M2 in relation to the Common Agricultural Policy of the European Community, in exercise of the powers conferred on her by that section, and of all other powers enabling her in that behalf, makes the following Regulations:

1.  These Regulations may be cited as the Import and Export Restrictions (Foot-and-Mouth Disease) (No. 9) (Amendment) Regulations 2001; they extend to England and come into force on 20th July 2001.

Amendment to the Import and Export Restrictions (Foot-and-Mouth Disease) (No. 9) Regulations 2001E+W

2.  Regulation 1(2) of the Import and Export Restrictions (Foot-and-Mouth Disease) (No. 9) Regulations 2001 M3 is amended by substituting the words “ 30th September 2001 ” for the words “20th July 2001”.

Explanatory Note

(This note is not part of the Regulations)

These Regulations implement Commission Decision 2001/356/EC amending for the sixth time Decision 2001/356/EC concerning certain protection measures with regard to foot-and-mouth disease in the United Kingdom (OJ No. L 195, 19.7.2001, p. 61). They extend the expiry date of the Import and Export Restrictions (Foot-and-Mouth Disease) (No. 9) Regulations 2001 from 20th July to 30th September.
