In exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 80 of the Criminal Justice and Court Services Act 2000(1), the Secretary of State hereby makes the following Order:

1.  This Order may be cited as the Criminal Justice and Court Services Act 2000 (Commencement No. 2) Order 2001.

2.  Section 65 of the Criminal Justice and Court Services Act 2000 (short term prisoners: release subject to curfew conditions) shall come into force on 1st March 2001.

Explanatory Note

(This note is not part of the Order)

This Order brings into force section 65 of the Criminal Justice and Court Services Act 2000 on 1st March 2001. Section 65 provides that a prisoner subject to the notification requirements of Part I of the Sex Offenders Act 1997 (c. 51) shall not be eligible for release from prison under the curfew arrangements provided for short-term prisoners under section 34A of the Criminal Justice Act 1991 (c. 53).
