Coming into force

The Secretary of State for Transport, Local Government and the Regions makes this Order in exercise of the powers conferred by sections 10 and 12 of the Highways Act 19801 and now vested in him2, and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf:—

This Order may be cited as the A557 Trunk Road (M62 Junction 7 to Queensway) (Detrunking) Order 2001 and shall come into force on 1st December 2001.

In this Order—

i

“the plan”

means the plan, numbered HA10/PS/231 consisting of Sheets 1–4 marked “The A557 Trunk Road (Between M62 Junction 7 and Queensway) (Detrunking) Order 2001”, signed by authority of the Secretary of State for Transport, Local Government and the Regions and deposited at the Department of Transport, Local Government and the Regions, DTLR, Records Management Branch, Ashdown House, Sedlescombe Road, North St. Leonards-on-Sea, East Sussex, TN37 7GA.

“principal road”

as a classification for a highway, means that the highway is a principal road for the purposes of enactments and instruments which refer to highways classified as principal roads and is alo classified for the purpose of every other enactment and instrument which refers to highways classified by the Secretary of State; and

iv

“the trunk road”

means the A557 Trunk Road.

The length of the trunk road described in the Schedule to this Order shall cease to be a trunk road and shall be classified as a principal road from the date on which this Order comes into force.

THE SCHEDULELENGTH OF THE TRUNK ROAD CEASING TO BE A TRUNK ROAD

The length of the trunk road ceasing to be a trunk road is situated between the M62 J7 (marked A on “the plan”) and the Junction of the A557 Watkinson Way with the A553 Queensway (marked B on “the plan”) and is shown by broad black dashes on the plan.
