1.  This Order may be cited as the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971 (Modification) Order 2001 and shall come into force on 1st February 2002.

2.—(1) Schedule 2 to the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971(2) (which specifies the drugs which are subject to control under that Act) shall be amended as follows.

(2) After sub-paragraph (b) of paragraph 1 of Part I of that Schedule there shall be inserted the following sub-paragraph—

(ba)the following phenethylamine derivatives, namely:—

(3) In paragraph 1(a) of Part II of that Schedule after the word “Methylamphetamine” there shall be inserted the word “α-Methylphenethylhydroxylamine;”.

Explanatory Note

(This note is not part of the Order)

This Order adds thirty-six substances to Schedule 2 to the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971 which specifies drugs which are subject to control under the Act. The thirty-six substances are phenethylamine derivatives which are not covered by the definition in paragraph 1(c) of Part I of Schedule 2 to the 1971 Act. Thirty-five of the substances are added as Class A drugs; and α-Methylphenethylhydroxylamine is added as a Class B drug.
