The amount of the civil penalty, which a registration officer may impose under section 9E(7) of the 1983 Act, is £80.

Where the registration officer imposes a civil penalty under that section, the registration officer must give the person notice in writing that the penalty has been imposed and specify the reasons for imposing it.

The notice in paragraph (2) must state that the person must—
a
within 28 days of the date of the notice, make an application to register;
b
within 28 days of the date of the notice, pay the full amount of the civil penalty; or
c
within 14 days of the date of the notice, request a review of the decision to impose the civil penalty.

The notice in paragraph (2) must also state—
a
the amount due;
b
how to make payment;
c
the rate of interest payable if the penalty is not paid on time; and
d
that making an application to register within 28 days will prevent the person being liable to pay the civil penalty.
