The Queen’s Most Excellent Majesty in Council
WHEREAS Her Majesty deems it expedient to modify the Northern Ireland Act 1998(1) and to do so by Order in Council in pursuance of section 87(7) of that Act:
NOW, THEREFORE, Her Majesty, by virtue and in exercise of the powers conferred upon Her by section 87(7) of the said Act and of all other powers enabling Her in that behalf, is pleased by and with the advice of Her Privy Council to order, and it is hereby ordered, as follows:
1. This Order may be cited as the Northern Ireland Act 1998 (Modification) Order 2002 and shall come into force on 15th March 2002.
2. At the end of subsection (6) of section 87 of the Northern Ireland Act 1998(2) there shall be added the following paragraph—
“(p)the Social Security Fraud Act 2001(3) and the Social Security Fraud Act (Northern Ireland) 2001(4)”.

This Order adds the Social Security Fraud Act 2001 (c. 11) and the Social Security Fraud Act (Northern Ireland) 2001 (c. 17 (N.I.)) to the legislation listed in section 87 of the Northern Ireland Act 1998 (c. 47). The effect of this amendment will be to render those Acts subject to the provisions in that section concerning consultation and co-ordination between the Secretary of State and the Northern Ireland Minister having responsibility for social security.
This Order does not impose any charge on business.
