Citation, commencement and interpretation1

These Regulations may be cited as the Social Security, Statutory Maternity Pay and Statutory Sick Pay (Miscellaneous Amendments) Regulations 2002 and shall come into force—

a

except for the purposes of regulations 3, 4(b), 5(b), 10(2), 14(b) and 16, on 24th November 2002;

b

for the purposes of regulation 3, on 6th April 2003;

c

for the purposes of regulations 4(b), 5(b), 10(2), 14(b) and 16 on the date on which Chapter 1 of Part 1 of the Employment Act 2002 comes into force.

These Regulations, (except for regulations 3,5,6,10,14 and 16), shall take effect only in respect of those women whose expected week of confinement commences on or after 6th April 2003.

In these Regulations—

  • “the Social Security (Incapacity Benefit) Regulations” means the Social Security (Incapacity Benefit) Regulations 19945;

  • “the Social Security (Maternity Allowance) Regulations” means the Social Security (Maternity Allowance) Regulations 19876;

  • “the Social Security (Maternity Allowance) (Earnings) Regulations” means the Social Security (Maternity Allowance)(Earnings) Regulations 20007;

  • “the Statutory Maternity Pay (General) Regulations” means the Statutory Maternity Pay (General) Regulations 19868;

  • “the Statutory Maternity Pay (National Health Service Employees) Regulations” means the Statutory Maternity Pay (National Health Service Employees) Regulations 19919;

  • “the Statutory Sick Pay (General) Regulations” means the Statutory Sick Pay (General) Regulations 198210.
