Of the councillors elected in 2002 for any ward of the borough, one shall retire in 2003, one in 2004 and one in 2006.”
Signed by the members of the Electoral Commission
This Order amends the Borough of Burnley (Electoral Changes) Order 2001 by inserting necessary provision for the years of retirement of borough councillors, which had been omitted from that Order.
That Order was made by the Secretary of State. The functions of the Secretary of State under sections 13 to 15 and 17 of the Local Government Act 1992, so far as they relate to electoral changes, were transferred with modifications to the Electoral Commission by the Local Government Commission for England (Transfer of Functions) Order 2001 (S.I. 2001/3962) with effect from 1st April 2002.
