2.—(1) The European Specialist Medical Qualifications Order 1995(1) shall be amended in accordance with the following provisions of this regulation.
(2) In paragraph (4) of article 7 after the word “published” insert “following approval by the STA”.
(3) After paragraph (4) of article 8 insert the following paragraph—
“(4A) In order to satisfy the STA that a doctor has particular expertise in a field such that he is entitled to have that expertise indicated in the register under paragraph (4)(b), the doctor must satisfy the STA that he has satisfactorily completed—
(a)an STA approved sub-speciality training scheme in the United Kingdom; or
(b)any other sub-speciality training scheme outside the United Kingdom that the STA is satisfied is equivalent to an STA approved sub-speciality training scheme.”.
(4) In Part II of Schedule 2, in the appropriate alphabetical position, insert “Pharmaceutical medicine”.
