Coming into force

Whereas:

(1)

under paragraph 3(2) of Schedule 8 to the Terrorism Act 20001 (“the 2000 Act”) the Secretary of State has made an Order2 requiring the video recording with sound of interviews by a constable of any person detained under Schedule 7 to or section 41 of the 2000 Act which take place in Northern Ireland in a police station (within the meaning of paragraph 1(2) of Schedule 8 to the 2000 Act);

(2)

pursuant to paragraph 3(4)(a) of Schedule 8 to the 2000 Act, the Secretary of State issued a code of practice3 in connection with the video recording of interviews as mentioned above and, pursuant to paragraph 4(5) of that Schedule, he may revise a code and issue the revised code;

(3)

pursuant to paragraph 4(2) of Schedule 8 to the 2000 Act, the Secretary of State has published a draft of a revised code of practice in connection with the above matter and has considered representations made to him about it and modified it as he thinks appropriate;

(4)

pursuant to paragraph 4(3) of Schedule 8 to the 2000 Act the Secretary of State has laid a draft of the revised code of practice before Parliament;

(5)

a draft of this Order has been approved by a resolution of each House of Parliament;

Now, therefore, in exercise of the powers conferred upon him by paragraph 4(4) of Schedule 8 to the 2000 Act, the Secretary of State makes the following Order, a draft of which has been laid before Parliament in accordance with section 123(4)(k) of the 2000 Act and approved by resolution of each House of Parliament:
