(This note is not part of the Regulations)
These Regulations amend the Tobacco Advertising and Promotion (Sponsorship) Transitional Regulations 2003 in order to clarify the conditions under which there is a time limited exception for the sponsorship of exceptional global events. “Exceptional global event” is defined in regulation 2 of those Regulations. The clarification makes it clear that the reference to “advertisements” in the conditions which apply to the exception is a reference to tobacco advertisements.
A separate Regulatory Impact Assessment for these Regulations has not been prepared.
2002 c. 36. The powers are exercisable by the appropriate Minister, who is defined in section 21, in relation to England, Wales and Northern Ireland, as the Secretary of State.
