Contracting out of functions

2.  The functions now vested in the Secretary of State under section 22 of the Crown Lands Act 1851(1) in relation to Hampton Court Gardens, Green, and Road and Hampton Court Park and Kensington Gardens may be exercised by, or by employees of, such person (if any) as may be authorised in that behalf by the Secretary of State.

1851 c. 42 (14 & 15 Vict.). The Crown Lands Act 1851 is extensively amended and the greater part of it is now repealed. Words are omitted from section 22 by the Statute Law Revision Act 1875, the Statute Law Revision Act 1892 and the Statute Law (Repeals) Act 1993. Functions vested in the Commissioners of Works by section 22 have been the subject of orders transferring functions namely:- the Ministry of Works (Transfer of Powers) (No.1) Order 1945 (S.R.&O 1945/991), the Secretary of State for the Environment Order 1970 (S.I. 1970/1681) and the Transfer of Functions (National Heritage) Order 1992 (S.I.1992/1311). The Minister of Works (Change of Style and Title) Order 1962 (S.I. 1962/1549) and the Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport Order 1997 (S.I. 1997/1744) changed the title of the office in which the functions are vested by section 22.
