1. This Order may be cited as the A5 Trunk Road (Weeford-Fazeley Improvement) (De-trunking) Order 2003 and shall come into force on 11th December 2003.
2. In this Order—
(i)“the new trunk road” means the new highway which the Secretary of State proposes to construct referred to in article 2 of the A5 Trunk Road (Weeford-Fazeley Improvement) Order 2003(3),
(ii)“the trunk road” means the London to Holyhead Trunk Road (A5).
3. The length of the trunk road described in the Schedule to this Order shall cease to be a trunk road from the date on which the Secretary of State notifies Staffordshire County Council that the new trunk road is open for traffic.

The length of the A5 Trunk Road ceasing to be a Trunk Road (known locally as Watling Street) is situated from its junction with the A38 Trunk Road at Weeford Island and extending eastwards through the villages of Weeford to Hints to a point approximately 1,025 metres west of its junction with the A453 Sutton Road, shown by broad black dashes on the plan numbered HA10/MP/016, marked “The A5 Trunk Road (Weeford-Fazeley Improvement) (De-trunking) Order 2003” signed by authority of the Secretary of State for Transport, and deposited at the ODPM-DfT, Records Management Branch, Floor 13 (IMD), Ashdown House, St Leonards on Sea, Hastings, East Sussex TN37 7GA.
