Subject to regulation 17, child benefit or guardian’s allowance shall be paid by means of an instrument of payment or by such other means as appears to the Board to be appropriate in the circumstances of the particular case.

If a person entitled to child benefit is also entitled to guardian’s allowance, the allowance shall be paid in the same manner as that in which the child benefit is paid under this regulation.

Instruments of payment which have been issued by the Board remain their property.

A person who has an instrument of payment must on ceasing to be entitled to the benefit or allowance to which the instrument relates, or when required to do so by the Board, deliver it to the Board or such person as the Board may direct.
