These Regulations implement Directive 2001/20/EC on the approximation of laws, regulations and administrative provisions of the Member States relating to the implementation of good clinical practice in the conduct of clinical trials on medicinal products for human use (“the Directive”).

The Act3

In section 7 of the Act (restrictions as to dealings with medicinal products)57, after subsection (3), insert the following subsection—

3A
The restrictions imposed by subsections (2) and (3) of this section shall not apply where the medicinal product concerned is an investigational medicinal product within the meaning of the Clinical Trials Regulations.
