The Energy Information (Household Refrigerators and Freezers) Regulations 2004

The Secretary of State, being a Minister designated(1) for the purposes of section 2(2)(2) of the European Communities Act 1972(3) in relation to measures relating to energy labelling and standard product information for household products, in exercise of the powers conferred on her by section 2(2) of that Act hereby makes the following Regulations:

The enabling powers in section 2(2) of this Act were extended by virtue of the amendment of section 1(2) by section 1 of the European Economic Area Act 1993 (c. 51). The requirements of the Directives are reserved matters for both Scotland (product labelling is covered by Head C8 - Product standards, safety and liability in Part II (Specific reservations) of Schedule 2 to the Scotland Act (c.46)), and Northern Ireland (in accordance with paragraph 38 (Technical standards and requirements in relation to products in pursuance of an obligation under Community law) of Schedule 3 (Reserved Matters) to the Northern Ireland Act 1998 (c. 47)). The power has not been transferred to the National Assembly for Wales.
