PART 1Interpretation and General

Title and commencement

1.  These Regulations may be cited as the Justification of Practices Involving Ionising Radiation Regulations 2004 and shall come into force on 2nd August 2004.

Application

2.  These Regulations apply to practices only to the extent to which the [F12013] Directive applies to them.

Interpretation

3.[F2(1) In these Regulations, “the 2013 Directive” means Council Directive 2013/59/Euratom laying down basic safety standards for protection against the dangers arising from exposure to ionising radiation, and repealing Directives 89/618/Euratom, 90/641/Euratom, 96/29/Euratom, 97/43/Euratom and 2003/122/Euratom.]

(2) Expressions and words used in both these Regulations and the [F32013] Directive have the same meaning for the purposes of these Regulations as they do in that Directive, whether or not they are defined in [F4Article 4] of that Directive.
