3. The undertakings given to the Secretary of State by Wal-Mart Stores Inc, Asda Group Limited, J Sainsbury plc, Tesco plc and Wm Morrison Supermarkets PLC following the report of the Commission entitled “Safeway plc and Asda Group Limited (owned by Wal-Mart Stores Inc); Wm Morrison Supermarkets PLC; J Sainsbury plc; and Tesco plc: A report on the mergers in contemplation”(1).
Cm 5950, August 2003. The acceptance of the undertakings was announced in a DTI Press Notice dated 8 December 2003 (P/2003/595), which provided for the publication of the undertakings in accordance with section 88(2A) of the 1973 Act.
