The Private Security Industry Act 2001 (Commencement No. 4) Order 2004 No. 2191 (C. 97)

2.  Section 3(1) of the 2001 Act (conduct prohibited without a licence)(1) shall come into force on 13^th September 2004 in the police areas(2) of—

(a) Avon and Somerset;

(b) Devon and Cornwall;

(c) Dorset;

(d) Gloucestershire; and

(e) Wiltshire.

Section 3(2)(a) to (i) of the 2001 Act was brought into force in the Avon and Somerset, Devon and Cornwall, Dorset, Gloucestershire and Wiltshire police areas on 1^st June 2004 by S.I. No. 2004/1431.

The term “police area” has the meaning ascribed to it in section 101(1) of the Police Act 1996 (c. 16) by virtue of Schedule 1 to the Interpretation Act 1978 (c. 30).
