The European Parliamentary Elections Regulations 2004
Coming into force
23rd March 2004
The Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by sections 5, 6(5) and 7 of the European Parliamentary Elections Act 2002 and by sections 17, 18, 23(2) and 25(3) of the European Parliament (Representation) Act 2003 , being a Minister designated for the purposes of section 2(2) of the European Communities Act 1972 in relation to measures relating to the right of citizens of the Union to vote at and stand as a candidate at European Parliamentary elections , in exercise of the powers conferred on him by the said section 2(2), after consulting the Electoral Commission pursuant to section 7(2)(a) of the Political Parties, Elections and Referendums Act 2000 and section 17(4) of the European Parliament (Representation) Act 2003, and in accordance with a recommendation of the Electoral Commission under section 8(2) of the Political Parties, Elections and Referendums Act 2000, hereby makes the following Regulations, a draft of which has been laid before and approved by a resolution of each House of Parliament:
