The National Health Service (Standing Advisory Committees) Amendment Order 2005

Coming into force

The Secretary of State for Health, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by sections 6(3) and 126(3) and (4) of the National Health Service Act 19771 and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, hereby makes the following Order:—

Citation, commencement and interpretation1

This Order may be cited as the National Health Service (Standing Advisory Committees) Amendment Order 2005 and shall come into force on 2nd May 2005.

In this Order, “the 1981 Order” means the National Health Service (Standing Advisory Committees) Order 19812.

Abolition of certain Standing Advisory Committees2

The Standing Medical Advisory Committee, the Standing Pharmaceutical Advisory Committee and the Standing Nursing and Midwifery Advisory Committee are abolished.

Amendment of the 1981 Order3

In the 1981 Order, in Part I of the Schedule, the entries for the Standing Medical Advisory Committee, the Standing Pharmaceutical Advisory Committee and the Standing Nursing and Midwifery Advisory Committee in column (1), and the corresponding entries in column (2), shall be omitted.

This Order abolishes, on 2nd May 2005, the Standing Medical Advisory Committee, the Standing Pharmaceutical Advisory Committee and the Standing Nursing and Midwifery Advisory Committee (article 2). Provision was made for their continuing constitution by the National Health Service (Standing Advisory Committees) Order 1981 (“the 1981 Order”). Article 3 amends the 1981 Order by omitting the references to those Committees from the Schedule to that Order.
