The District of Stroud (Parishes and Electoral Changes) (Amendment) Order 2005

Coming into force in accordance with article 1(2)

The Electoral Commission1, in exercise of the powers conferred upon them by sections 172 and 263 of the Local Government Act 1992, hereby make the following Order:

Citation and commencement1

This Order may be cited as the District of Stroud (Parishes and Electoral Changes) (Amendment) Order 2005.

This Order shall come into force on the day after that on which it is made.

Amendment to the 2001 Order2

The District of Stroud (Parishes and Electoral Changes) Order 20014 shall be amended as follows:

In article 1(5) for the penultimate sub-paragraph substitute the following—

  • any reference to the map is a reference to the map marked “Revised (2005) Map referred to in the District of Stroud (Parishes and Electoral Changes) Order 2001”, of which prints are available for inspection at—

    1. a

      the principal office of the Electoral Commission; and

    2. b

      the offices of Stroud District Council.

After article 12 shall be inserted—

Stroud District Council shall make a print of the map marked “Revised (2005) Map referred to in the District of Stroud (Parishes and Electoral Changes) Order 2001” available for inspection at its offices by any member of the public at any reasonable time.

This Order substitutes a new map for that originally referred to in the District of Stroud (Parishes and Electoral Changes) Order 2001, in order to give full effect to recommendations by the Local Government Commission for England for electoral changes in the district of Stroud.

That Order was made by the Secretary of State. The functions of the Secretary of State under sections 13 to 15 and 17 of the Local Government Act 1992, so far as they relate to electoral changes, were transferred with modifications to the Electoral Commission by the Local Government Commission for England (Transfer of Functions) Order 2001 (S.I.2001/3962) with effect from 1st April 2002.

Prints of the map may be inspected at all reasonable times at the offices of Stroud District Council and at the principal office of the Electoral Commission at Trevelyan House, Great Peter Street, London SW1P 2HW or may be viewed on the Boundary Committee for England’s website at www.boundarycommittee.org.uk/your-area/stroud.cfm.
