1.  This Order may be cited as the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971 (Amendment) Order 2005 and shall come into force on 1st January 2006.

2.  In Part 3 of Schedule 2 to the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971(2) (which specifies the drugs which are subject to control under that Act as Class C drugs), in paragraph 1(a) after “4-Hydroxy-n-butyric acid”(3) insert “Ketamine”.

Explanatory Note

This Order inserts Ketamine into Part 3 of Schedule 2 to the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971, which specifies drugs which are subject to control under that Act as Class C drugs.

The substance 4-Hydroxy-n-butyric acid was inserted into paragraph 1(a) of Part 3 to Schedule 2 to the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971 by Article 2 of S.I. 2003/1243.
