This Order may be cited as the Serious Organised Crime and Police Act 2005 (Commencement No. 4 and Transitory Provision) Order 2005.
In this Order “the 2005 Act” means the Serious Organised Crime and Police Act 2005.

The Secretary of State makes the following Order in exercise of the powers conferred by section 178(8) and (10) of the Serious Organised Crime and Police Act 2005
This Order may be cited as the Serious Organised Crime and Police Act 2005 (Commencement No. 4 and Transitory Provision) Order 2005.
In this Order “the 2005 Act” means the Serious Organised Crime and Police Act 2005.
Subject to paragraph (2), the following provisions of the 2005 Act shall come into force on 1st January 2006—
section 1(3) (power in relation to NCS and NCIS);
sections 8 to 10 (general duty; priorities; codes of practice);
sections 17 and 18 (grants);
section 27 (regulations);
section 39 (directions about prosecutions);
section 42 (interpretation of Chapter 1);
section 44(2) (designations);
section 52 (modification of enactments);
section 54 (interpretation of Chapter 2);
section 58 and Schedule 3 (transfers to SOCA);
section 59 (minor and consequential amendments relating to SOCA) in so far as it relates to the entry in Schedule 4 in paragraph (l) below;
paragraph 42 of Schedule 4 (amendment of s87 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984);
sections 110 and 111 (powers of arrest) and Schedule 7 (powers of arrest: supplementary);
sections 113 and 114(1) to (8) (search warrants);
section 116 (photographing of suspects etc.) to the extent not already in force;
section 118 (impressions of footwear);
section 122(7) (powers of designated and accredited persons) in so far as it relates to the entry for Schedule 8 in paragraph (r) below;
Schedule 8 (powers of designated and accredited persons) to the extent not already in force;
section 174(1) (minor and consequential amendments, repeals and revocations) and Schedule 16 (remaining minor and consequential amendments (search warrants));
