This Order brings into force on 1st November 2006 the provisions of the Crime (International Co-operation) Act 2003 specified in articles 2 and 3. These provisions implement the 2001 Protocol to the Convention on Mutual Assistance in Criminal Matters. The 2001 Protocol requires participating countries to respond to requests for assistance with locating bank accounts and to provide banking information relating to criminal investigations.

Sections 32 to 36 of the Act shall come into force on 1st November 2006.
