Appointment of accountable officers and national lists4

A designated body must nominate or appoint (or under regulation 5(2), (4) or (6) jointly nominate or appoint with one or more other bodies) a fit, proper and suitably experienced person as its accountable officer.

A designated body in England must notify the Head of Operations of the Healthcare Commission in writing of—

a

any nomination or appointment by it under paragraph (1) as soon as practicable; and

b

the removal of an accountable officer by it (whether or not under regulation 6) as soon as practicable.

The Healthcare Commission must publish, from time to time and in such manner as it sees fit, a list of accountable officers of designated bodies in England.

A designated body in Scotland must notify the Scottish Ministers in writing of—

a

any nomination or appointment by it under paragraph (1) as soon as practicable; and

b

the removal of an accountable officer by it (whether or not under regulation 6) as soon as practicable.

The Scottish Ministers must publish, from time to time and in such manner as they see fit, a list of accountable officers of designated bodies in Scotland.
