The Representation of the People (Combination of Polls) (England and Wales) (Amendment) Regulations 2006

Coming into force in accordance with regulation 1

These Regulations are made in exercise of the powers conferred by section 36(3C) of the Representation of the People Act 1983(1), section 15(5) of the Representation of the People Act 1985(2) and sections 44 and 45 of the Local Government Act 2000(3).

The Secretary of State has consulted the Electoral Commission about these Regulations in accordance with sections 44(3A) and 45(8A) of the Local Government Act 2000 and section 7(2)(e) of the Political Parties, Elections and Referendums Act 2000(4).

In accordance with section 201(2) of the Representation of the People Act 1983(5) and section 105(6) of the Local Government Act 2000(6), a draft of this instrument has been laid before and approved by resolution of each House of Parliament.

Accordingly, the Secretary of State makes the following Regulations:

1983 c. 2; subsection (3C) of section 36 was inserted by section 17 of the Representation of the People Act 1985 (c. 50).
