The Legal Services Ombudsman (Jurisdiction) (Amendment) Order 2006

The Secretary of State makes the following Order in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 22(11)(b) of the Courts and Legal Services Act 1990(1).
Citation
1. This Order may be cited as the Legal Services Ombudsman (Jurisdiction) (Amendment) Order 2006.
Commencement
2. This Order comes into force on 5th January 2007.
Amendment
3. In Part 1 of the Schedule to the Legal Services Ombudsman (Jurisdiction) Order 1990(2), after “The Institute of Trade Mark Attorneys”, insert “The Association of Law Costs Draftsmen”.

EXPLANATORY NOTE
(This note is not part of the Order)
Under section 22 of the Courts and Legal Services Act 1990, the Legal Services Ombudsman has jurisdiction to investigate allegations about the way that a professional body has dealt with a complaint made to it. This order extends the jurisdiction to include the Association of Law Costs Draftsmen, consequent upon that body being authorised, by the Association of Law Costs Draftsmen Order 2006(3), to grant rights of audience and rights to conduct litigation.
