The Constitutional Reform Act 2005 (Commencement No. 9) Order 2007

The Lord Chancellor makes the following Order in exercise of the powers conferred upon him by section 148 of the Constitutional Reform Act 2005(1).

Citation

1.  This Order may be cited as the Constitutional Reform Act 2005 (Commencement No. 9) Order 2007.

Commencement of provisions of the Constitutional Reform Act 2005

2.  The following provisions of the Constitutional Reform Act 2005 shall come into force on 8th May 2007—

(a)section 5(3) and 5(4) (representations to Parliament);

(b)section 6 (representations to the Northern Ireland Assembly); and

(c)section 11 (Lord Chief Justice of Northern Ireland), in so far as it inserts subsection (1B)(b) into section 12 of the Justice (Northern Ireland) Act 2002(2).

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Order)

This Order brings into force the provisions of the Constitutional Reform Act 2005 (c.4) listed in Article 2. These relate to the role of the Lord Chief Justice of Northern Ireland in respect of making representations to Parliament, the Northern Ireland Assembly, the First Minister, deputy First Minister and Northern Ireland Ministers.
