The Queen’s Most Excellent Majesty in Council

Her Majesty, by and with the advice of Her Council, in exercise of the powers conferred by section 77A of the International Criminal Court Act 2001(1), makes the following Order in Council:

1.  This Order may be cited as the International Tribunals (Sierra Leone) (Application of Provisions) Order 2007 and shall enter into force on 15 August 2007.

2.  The provisions of sections 42 to 48 of the International Criminal Court Act 2001 (enforcement of sentences of imprisonment) apply in England and Wales, with any necessary modifications, in relation to a sentence of the Special Court for Sierra Leone as they apply in relation to a sentence of the International Criminal Court.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Order)

This Order applies certain provisions of the International Criminal Court Act 2001 to the Special Court for Sierra Leone so as to permit the implementation of a sentence enforcement agreement between the Special Court and the Government of the United Kingdom.
