The Secretary of State makes the following Order in exercise of the powers conferred by section 77(2) of the Electoral Administration Act 2006(1).
Citation and interpretation
1.—(1) This Order may be cited as the Electoral Administration Act 2006 (Commencement No. 5) Order 2007.
(2) In this Order “the Act” means the Electoral Administration Act 2006.
Record of electoral registration arrangements of service personnel
2. The day appointed for the coming into force of section 13(2) and (3) of the Act is 30th November 2007.
Access to election documents after Greater London Authority elections
3. The day appointed for the coming into force in England and Wales of sections 42 to 44 of the Act for the purposes of Authority elections (as defined by section 203(1) of the Representation of the People Act 1983(2)), is 1st January 2008.

EXPLANATORY NOTE
(This note is not part of the Order)
This Order brings section 13(2) and (3) of the Electoral Administration Act 2006 (c.22) into force on 30th November 2007. Section 13(2) and (3) amend section 59 of the Representation of the People Act 1983 (c.2), making provision about the registration of voters with a service qualification.
The Order also brings sections 42 to 44 of the Electoral Administration Act 2006 into force, in relation to elections to the Greater London Authority. Sections 42 to 44 regulate access to election documents after a poll that is not a poll at a Parliamentary election or local government election in Northern Ireland or Scotland.

1983 c.2. The definition of “local government election” in section 203(1) was amended, and the definition of “Authority election” in section 203(1) was inserted, by the Greater London Authority Act 1999 (c.29).
