EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Order)

This Order revokes and replaces the Consular Fees Order 2005, the Consular Fees (Civil Partnership) Order 2005, the Consular Fees (Amendment) Order 2005 and the Consular Fees (Amendment) Order 2006.

The Order sets out fees to be charged for consular services.

The Order increases fees for services in relation to the services listed under the following parts to the Consular Fees Order:

Part INotarial and kindred matters - all fees.
Part IIPassports, visas and kindred matters - fees 12A, 13A, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20 and 21 only.
Part IIIBirths, deaths, marriages and civil partnerships - all fees.
Part IVSearches - all fees.
Part VEstates - all fees.
Pat VIAttendances - all fees.
Part VIIMatters relating to legal proceedings - all fees.
Part VIIIRepatriation and financial assistance - all fees.
Part IXShipping, seamen and kindred matters - all fees.

Most consular fees are increased, by amounts ranging from just under 30% to just over 40%.

Overseas passport fees are increased from £91 to £119 (standard passport for those 16 years or over), from £59 to £76 (standard passport for those under 16) and from £109 to £144 (48-page passport). The fee for amending an existing passport abroad is increased from £75.50 to £97.50. The fee for issuing emergency passports is increased from £43.50 to £55.50 and temporary passports from £55 to £70.50.

Fees for visas other than for the United Kingdom or for the Crown Dependencies and transit visas are increased from £30 to £44 and for six month visit visas from £50 to £63. Fees for applications for settlement and marriage visas are increased from £260 to £500 and for student visas from £85 to £99. Fees for applications for any other form of visa and certificates of entitlement to the right of abode are increased from £85 to £200.
