This Order amends section 4(2) of the Medical Act 1983 by adding to the list of bodies or combinations of bodies that may hold qualifying examinations for primary United Kingdom qualifications the following: the Imperial College of Science, Technology and Medicine; a combination of the universities of Brighton and Sussex (which is known as the Brighton and Sussex Medical School); and a combination of the universities of Hull and York (which is known as the Hull York Medical School). Obtaining a primary United Kingdom qualification allows a person to be provisionally registered as a medical practitioner, provided that the person’s fitness to practise is not impaired and the appropriate fees have been paid.
